Community Hospital East Health Fair at the 2017 Peace Festival

The date for the 2017 Youth Against Violence Peace Festival was June 24, and Circle Up Indy was honored that Community Hospital East was the Title Sponsor, and  held a free Health Fair as a cornerstone of the event. This was the third time Community Hospital East has brought its integrity, passion and commitment to improving Indianapolis’ East Side communities directly to residents during the Peace Festival.

New Features for the Community Hospital East Healthcare Zone

At our past events, Community Hospital East has provided free health screenings, free youth sports physicals, health and wellness information as well as free gifts. Community Hospital East staff, nurses, physicians and dozens of volunteers have given their time and energy to make these events a huge success. For 2017 the Community Hospital East Healthcare Zone had all of this as well as some new features.

Child Car-seat Raffle

According to the Indiana State Police website, “approximately 85% of child safety seats are being misused nationally.” In order to promote awareness of this issue, and proper usage, Community Hospital East raffled off child car seats. Our children truly are the greatest resource we have in the community, so their safety is critical. Indiana State Police also remind parents and others who transport children of the following safety tips:

* Child safety seats must be properly secured to the vehicles seat belt or LATCH system and should not move side to side or forward more than one-inch.
* Children should stay rear-facing until one-year of age and 20 lbs.
* The retainer clip that connects the two shoulder harness straps must be kept at the child’s armpit level.

30 Minute Concussion Conversation

News stories about the dangers of sports concussions have proliferated over the past several years. Visitors found out the facts from a source you can trust to have the latest and best information. The discussion was part of Community Hospital East’s continuing efforts to bring more awareness to this issue.

By looking for unique ways to reach out to local residents, Community Hospital East is setting a standard for community service and compassionate health care.
