​The Fathers and Families Resource/Research Center, Inc. the Fathers and Families Resource/Research Center, Inc. is a non-profit organization located at 2835 North Illinois Street and has, for more than over twenty years, been working to improve the lives of fathers, families and the Indianapolis community. Through programs aimed at giving fathers skills they need to be successful in every dimension of their lives.

To accomplish the goal of  “Building a Noble Legacy of Fatherhood,” Fathers and Families offers Career and College, High School Equivalency (HSE), Strong Fathers – Strengthening Families – Supporting Communities, Workforce Development, and other programs and specialty workshops. One such program is the Faces of Fatherhood Luncheon.

According to Fathers and Families’ website, The Faces of Fatherhood Luncheon was first held in 2005 to create public awareness of the important role fathers play in the lives of their children.  During the luncheon, which is held every year on the Friday before Father’s Day, several fathers who have demonstrated the four dimensions of fatherhood–Involvement, Consistency, Awareness, and Nurturing–are presented with the Heart of a Father Award. This event also provides an opportunity to recognize the programs provided by this organization, and the positive impact on the Indianapolis community.  This year’s event will be on June 16, from 11:45 am until 1:30 pm.

Over the last ten years 43 fathers nominated by local business or community groups have been honored. 2016’s recipients were: Circle Up Indy founder and CEO, James Wilson, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Sargent Christopher Wilburn, and Circle Up Indy’s Marketing and IT Director, Chris Smith and Fathers and Families Consultant, Marcus Murray. The 2015 award winners were: Rev. Malachi Walker, Co-Pastor of Great Commission Church of God, and founder of Young Men, Inc., Jeremy Clay, founder and Board President of Project Libertas, Dominic Dorsey, founder and President of Don’t Sleep, Reggie Martin, Jamal Smith, Executive Director of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, William Wilson.
